Curated Curated

About Curated

Events don't have to run onscattered documents and goodwill.

Curated exists because the plan, the print and the system behind an event are the same job, and almost nobody treats them that way.

Who we are

Get to know us. We would love to get to know you.

I have been around events since before I was any use at one. I grew up in this world, in parking lots and back-of-house and behind gates, watching every kind of event there is come together and occasionally come apart. Somewhere in there it stopped being the thing my family did and became the thing I loved. Especially the big ones. The kind where thousands of people show up at once and every decision that matters was made weeks if not months or years before any of them arrived.

Christian came at it through a different door. He grew up watching his mom do photography, which is where he learned to see things. And he was always starting something. A lemonade stand every week, then used golf balls, then whatever the next idea was. Coming up with something and building it was the fun part. He taught himself Photoshop, which turned into graphic design, which turned into work bigger than a kid selling golf balls has any business getting. He also spent time at a wedding venue, which is not an easy place to work. Somebody’s most important day, and a few hundred small decisions standing between them and it going well. He was not there long, but you do not need long. You learn fast what it costs when one of those decisions goes wrong.

We are best friends, and that is most of why this works. We argue about the right things, push each other towards growing. Not focused on growing a business or what we do but growing as an individual.

Curated came out of that. One of us who has spent his life on the operations side of events, and one who has spent his making things and making them look like something. Two people who care a lot about whether your event feels handled, and who would rather be standing on your site than describing it from behind a desk.

For many years I have had this idea. Which is a simple one to think but a hard task to execute. One event with many different people involved. A way to bring all of that together. To help people work together towards one goal. A successful guest experience!

What we are building toward

“Curated is handling it?Okay. I can stop worrying.”

That reaction is the whole product. The plans, the panels and the platforms all exist to earn it.

How we work

Two divisions, one standard

Event Experience builds what happens on site. System Experience builds the software that runs it. The two feed each other: every plan we draw for a festival is a specification for a system, and every system we build is tested on a job we are personally responsible for.

A client can hire either side on its own. Most start with the one they can see.

Who we do it for

Anywhere the guest experience matters

We travel to the work. If the site is worth standing on, we will be standing on it.

  • Festivals, tours and outdoor events
  • Student organizations and non-profits
  • Venues and hospitality operators
  • Catering and foodservice teams
